Understanding what overwhelms and what anchors your child

Every nervous system processes the world differently. What feels completely fine to one person can feel painful or overwhelming to another. Use this checklist to observe and map your child's sensory profile.
Tick the boxes that apply, and use the blank spaces to add your own observations.
Once you understand your child's sensory profile, you can begin to make small environmental changes. Reduce the triggers where possible, and actively provide the anchors they seek before they reach a state of overwhelm. Remember, sensory needs are physiological needs, not behavioural choices.
