Can Hypnotherapy Relieve Anxiety?

"It's one of the biggest mental health challenges of our times - with men in particular suffering in silence." According to studies just 14% of men seek professional treatment.*

But can hypnotherapy really relieve anxiety?*

First let's review what anxiety disorders are.

Anxiety disorders frequently consist of intense, excessive and persistent worry and fear about everyday situations.

  • Feeling nervous, restless or tense

  • Having a sense of impending danger, panic or doom

  • Having an increased heart rate

  • Breathing rapidly (hyperventilation)

  • Sweating

  • Trembling

  • Feeling weak or tired

  • Trouble concentrating or thinking about anything other than the present worry

  • Having trouble sleeping

  • Experiencing gastrointestinal (GI) problems

  • Having difficulty controlling worry

  • Having the urge to avoid things that trigger anxiety

While hypnotherapy has not been shown to be a "cure" for anxiety, studies suggest that hypnotherapy is effective in helping people achieve a better command of their emotions and mental state.

In one 2016 study, researchers scanned the brains of people while they were undergoing guided hypnosis sessions. They found that a hypnotised brain experiences changes that give a person focused attention, and greater physical and emotional control.

Hypnotherapy combines the use of CBT and NLP in order to optimise its effectiveness but can also be used as a complementary treatment to cognitive behavioral therapy. ***

Hypnotherapy is a powerful alternative therapy tool with many applications. It has been found to be extremely beneficial to people struggling with anxiety and worry.
